Joy Lake had been a predator water for 35 years until around 5 years ago. The original carp are big, but there aren’t many of them.
We’ve redressed the balance; stocking carp from doubles to 40's. A high percentage of mirrors. Anything pike/zander-proof as long as it had the looks and frame to go big.
It’s a finesse water. Location and accuracy rather than distance will sort out the better fish. Plenty of action and a photo for the mantlepiece. The mirrors from the 2004 stocking are some of the prettiest fish you'll have seen. A good chance of a 30, maybe a 40, plus the unknown.
It's easy compared with what you're used to - but with ample scope for stalking it'll be the working anglers that get the best results.
