Introduction
Joy Lake had been a predator water for 35 years until around 5 years ago. The original carp are big, but there aren’t many of them. We’ve redressed the balance; stocking carp from doubles to 40's. A high percentage of mirrors. Anything pike/zander-proof as long as it had the looks and frame to go big.

It’s a finesse water. Location and accuracy rather than distance will sort out the better fish. Plenty of action and a photo for the mantlepiece. The mirrors from the 2004 stocking are some of the prettiest fish you'll have seen. A good chance of a 30, maybe a 40, plus the unknown. It's easy compared with what you're used to - but with ample scope for stalking it'll be the working anglers that get the best results.

Facilities
Joy Lake is fenced and totally secure. English toilet and shower are contained in one cabin. A second cabin contains a small gas oven with hob, along with plates, cutlery etc for you to use. Mains water is connected and is fine for drinking! Finally, there is a stone barbeque for you to use when the weather permits.

We offer a full meals package, with breakfast, lunch and evening meal (or all three!) available if required. Please contact us for the menu and price list. If you want to look after yourself, the nearest supermarket is less than 10 minutes away.

Location
Joy Lake is in central Brittany in north-west France. We send detailed directions when we know which port you're travelling to. Ferry prices vary enormously - it's anything from £50 to £500 to take a vehicle across the channel. We can help with ferry options if you want us to.

Approximate journey times in hours: St Malo - 1.5; Caen - 2.5; Calais - 6; Le Havre - 3; Cherbourg - 3; Roscoff - 2; Boulogne - 5.5; Dieppe - 4.

Bait
Fresh bait is available onsite without the need to pre-order. Our 7mm carp feed pellet is produced for French fish farmers. We sell it at 2 Euros/kg. Particles are freshly prepared - maize, hemp and parti-mix - all at 3 Euros/kg. Quality fishmeal boilies work best. We recommend you bring whatever you're having sucess with on your own water.

Rules
No nuts. No braided mainline except on markers or spods. No leadcore. No Longshank nailer type hooks.
3 rods maximum. If you're bringing inexperienced carp anglers you'll do them a favour by recommending they stick to 2 rods.
